Macrobiotics, from

                    “macro”(large picture)  and “bios”(life)

is originally from Japan, the founder George Osawa cured himself of serious illness by adopting a simple Japanese diet. The term macrobiotics describes a lifestyle, including a simple balanced diet to promote health and longevity. Its dietary regimen involves eating whole grains as a stable, supplemented with other food such as local vegetables, sea vegetables and legumes, while avoiding the use of highly processed or refined foods and most animal products.
Macrobiotics also emphasises individual diffrences and appreciates living with the cycles of nature.
There are three concepts of macrobiotic diet

1.Eat whole, unprocessed food
Eat the whole food, not just its parts. For a vegetable, it means to eat the skin and the roots as well. Because vegetable's energy is balanced from the top to bottom. In order to have a balanced body, it is important not to leave these elements out.

2.Eat locally and seasonally grown food
"Local production for local consumption." The most natural thing for our body is to eat the products of the land around us when they are in peak season. The food that is in season naturally has the most energy to give you. Always keep in mind that you get your energy from the food you eat.

3.Eat Yin and Yang balanced diet
If you can keep the concepts of "1. eat whole food" and "2. eat locally and seasonally grown food" in mind, the Yin and Yang naturally will balanced, so you won't have to worry too much about the Yin and Yang balance.
